May 1 @ 1:00 pmMay 2 @ 2:00 pm

Laurel Highland Hiking Trail Backpack | 11-miles, rugged, linear | overnight trip
Spend a night on this iconic trail. We’ll start at the Maple Summit Road parking area, hike 4.5 miles to Shelter 1, then finish with a 6.5-mile hike to Ohiopyle on Saturday. We’ll move at a moderate pace both days. View the route here. Participants will need: backpack, sleeping bag and pad, trekking poles, rain gear, clothing layers for hiking, camp and sleeping, sturdy hiking boots or trail runners, food (lunch/snacks, dinner, and breakfast), backpacking stove, and water filter (leader will have adequate cooking gear for the group if needed). Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and any necessary personal medications. Need gear? Check out KTA’s gear loaner program.

Please note that this event departs the Summit Inn at 1 PM on Friday and is expected to return to the Inn by 2 pm on Saturday. When registering for the weekend, please pick one of the two backpacking rates listed. Extreme storms cancel this activity.
